I know people have different opinions and such on topics, but just sometimes isn't somebody right in their opinion? I know Rocketer likes to say just because it's your opinion doesn't make it right. Not everyone has the same points of view as you do, Burrhead. What you think is right b/c it's good for you and yours isn't right for me b/c it hinders me and mine.
There's always a right and a wrong, yes--but it depends on who's flipping the coin and who's watching to see how it lands.

You are right about what and how different opinions hinder in different ways, but as for the coin toss, kinda off topic. You don't flip a coin and say heads I'm gonna have an abortion---or tails I'm putting it up for adoption.
I understand what you are saying. And believe me, I wish everybody agreed with everything I said. But it just isn't going to happen. A lot of the world is black and white, but a lot of it is gray. That frustrates me to no end, but it also makes me grow because I spend a lot of time trying to push my ideas and causes. I like healthy debates and differences of opinion and stay away from fluff...unless I'm bored.
You know where I'm coming from. I am so rose colored sometimes, I embarass myself. I'm a Republican, yes, but have been annoyed by some of their actions lately. I know I'm not right a whole lot of the time, but I think I've got a good insight of what is right and what is wrong.
We all are guilty of sometimes thinking "my way is the only way". What a dull world it would be if we didn't disagree, but at the end of the day all we can do is be the best person that we can be.

True, but it doesn't help when we know something is blatantly wrong and we try to justify it. I know I may sound a little crazy today, but your cheerleading post got me to thinking. Today it's let your kid be a kid, but some of the things we let them by with is not being a good parent. There is a whole lot of difference in a good parent and a good friend.
Amen to that.
We have to many parents trying to be friends and not parents first. It's created some of the problems lately.
Once you lose the ability to be able to be that parent, it's hard to get it back.
Kids today will use that to their advantage. Seen it happen.
Know it happens, seen it used by parents who well, say if i say anything they will hate me. That may be so.
But what if you don't. Will they hate you less. Raising a child isn't easy. But refusing to step in and be a parent to that child, makes more problems than most know, look around.
Many on here know it and see it.
One thing i will agree with.
Some hate to say i agree or you was right and i was wrong. And yes we all see things different, there is a bit of generation gap here as in the real work.
I can be hard headed, but i also know when i am wrong. And i will tell folks that. Difference in having to much pride and never learning humility.
Thing about it is Burr. Were from a different generation. Some on here, well they don't know, nor understand a lot of where, me you and some, even in their own generation are coming from. Everyone was raised differently and some with the attitude. I dare you to say i am wrong. And that is the mindset of most of today's youth. I dare you to say i am wrong or to discipline me. You do i will call social services on you. And that is kids to parents. Now tell me something hasn't changed big time.

I'll agree that there is a right and a wrong but whats right for you or me might not be right for the other. Just think about it. England wasn't such a horrible place, but they didn't have religious freedom. Now to some people, that might have been ok and right. To some it wasn't. Some people called them crazy, traitors, everything under the sun.
To some people, the idea of a lowly woman having the right to vote or have a say in anything was crazy. It wasn't right. It was wrong.
To some people the idea of slaves having freedom was crazy.
Hindsight, and most people being a bit more aware now, we can see that it was crazy to force religious beliefs, or deny basic rights to women or giving slaves freedom.
You'll find that I don't disagree with you on a lot of your moral beliefs Burrhead. I just disagree about the idea of forcing my beliefs or ideas on others. I totally am against abortion, for example. The only times I think its appropriate is when the child or the mothers life is in danger or it was through a rape or incestual relationship or such. It definitely should not be used as birth control. That being said, I don't think its a good idea to try and outlaw it, because I disagree with it on my religious beliefs. The idea of freedom of religion means that not everybody is going to have the same idea or beliefs on that as me. Some may feel that God gave man the knowledge to prevent an unwanted child from having to come into the world, some may think something totally else. If you outlaw it, just like most things, you're going to have as many or more involved in it. Backdoor abortions, self-attempts, etc. I see where people can talk about it being a life, and shouldn't be allowed to kill something that is mostly formed, but I can also see that the child that isn't born and is aborted is going to be in a better place than the place it was coming, if someone didn't want it. We talk about parents not being involved in their kids lifes anymore and that is definitely true, but how many more kids would be out there with nobody giving a crap about them if you every person who aborted a child ended up having that child. It's absolutely a mess, and there are thousands of angles, sides, views, points and counterpoints that people can make. The key is we have our freedoms here, and we should have our freedoms, as long as they don't infringe on the rights and freedoms of others. I'm not for abortion but thats my personal choice and view, for me to try to say it shouldn't be allowed does infringe on others. For someone to have an abortion, as much as I personally don't like it, it doesn't infringe on me or reduce my safety or such. Most of us that are against it, are so due to a religious upbringing or line of thinking. If we start using our moral compass or religious thinking in setting laws/rules, in many ways, we're starting to go against the very foundation this country was founded on. Yes, it was founded on God but also on freedom. If someones personal freedom doesn't infringe on others, then lets trust in God to deal with it, not men who sit trying to judge.
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.
